SINP Hospitality

SINP hospitality is a program from the Saskatchewan Experience Category. It is a unique program as it allows for low skilled workers that work in/as Food/Beverage Servers, Food Counter Attendant/Kitchen Helpers and Housekeeping/Cleaning Staff to apply for a nomination certificate which is used to apply for work permit extensions and permanent residence.

This program does not qualify for Express Entry.

In order to apply two criteria must be met, one by the employer and one by the applicant.

The employer criteria required is:

  • Employers must meet Employment and Social Development Canada’s (ESDC) employer criteria for the Stream for Lower Skilled Occupations (NOC C and D) and agree to the program parameters.
  • Employers must demonstrate their ongoing recruitment efforts have failed to result in the hiring of Canadian residents, including under-represented groups (First Nation & Métis, women, older workers, and those reporting a disability).
  • Employers must possess an ESDC Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) Confirmation and meet the conditions such as salary and accommodation.
  • Employers apply for SINP approval by submitting the SINP-500-4 Hospitality Sector Recruitment and Settlement Plan, outlining their approach to accommodation, settlement and from the time the foreign worker commences employment with the employer. The plan must demonstrate employer support and assistance toward successful integration.
  • Employers must provide both the SINP and ESDC a copy of:
    • the mandatory ESDC employer-employee contract; and
    • the Job Offer Letter of permanent employment that will take effect after the foreign worker has been employed a minimum of 6 months.
  • Employers who are approved under this project must apply to the SINP Employer Engagement Unit for a Job Approval Letter for each foreign worker being hired under this project within four months of the foreign worker commencing employment.
  • Employers who are approved under this project must provide a permanent job offer directly to the temporary foreign worker after six months successful probation

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply:

  • Have a valid work permit for one of the following categories:
    • Food/Beverage Server ( NOC 6453)
    • Food Counter Attendant/Kitchen Helper (NOC 6641)
    • Housekeeping/Cleaning Staff (NOC 6661)
  • Have completed a minimum of Grade 12 education (or its equivalent).
  • Work for an employer that has been approved by the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) to participate in the Hospitality Sector Project.  To find out if your employer is SINP approved, ask for a copy of their letter of approval. The SINP will not accept applications from hospitality sector employees who begin working for the employer prior to their employer receiving SINP approval.
  • Work in Saskatchewan for a minimum of six months and meet all of your employer’s work and performance standards.
  • Have sufficient English language ability for continued employment in Saskatchewan.
  • Have a minimum of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 4 or higher English Language ability across all 4 categories (listening, speaking, reading and writing.) For more information on what language assessments are acceptable, visit How can I meet the language requirements?
